Tossing to a prosperous year
No traditional CNY meal starts without the tossing of yee sang — a dish of julienned vegetables, pickles and raw fish. Mixing all these ingredients together symbolically ushers in an auspicious year. At Chynna, the dish is given a fruity twist thanks to jumbo American strawberries. Meanwhile, macadamia nuts add a healthy crunch, with berry sauce lending it a reddish tinge for extra ong (prosperity). Think of this as a toss (pun intended!) between traditional yee sang and a fruit salad.
