Fresh lemons can last anywhere from two to four weeks, and in the fridge, one to two months. If the one you have at hand sports a greenish tinge, it’s a definite sign that it hasn’t ripened fully. Meanwhile, those with dull or pale skins are old –you won’t be getting much juice out of them.

You’ve probably heard the advice of drinking a warm cup of water, with a squeeze of lemon, first thing in the morning to move the weight. The European Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Research actually backs this up, citing that this could help break down body fat as well as control food cravings, all thanks to the citrus’s pectin fibre. Of course, you could also squeeze lemon into a bottle of water and have that for the rest of the day!
