1. Send romantic messages to each other
Because there’s nothing more romantic than receiving a note or even a text message from your husband telling you that he loves you or he’s thinking about you. Even a simple “I love you” note can make our heart flutter. Especially when you’re all-stressed out at work, romantic messages like these can really lift our mood a little. If you’re feeling more daring, you can try sending sexy text messages too!
2. Try something new together
The best way to keep the relationship exciting is to explore the unexpected. Try the new restaurant that recently opened in your area or go on a trip somewhere the both of you have not been to. Doing something new together keeps the relationship fun and, most importantly, it helps you to grow together as a couple.
3. Throw in some element of surprise
Ladies, let’s face it. We’re all suckers for surprises. I mean, who doesn’t love to have a bouquet of flowers sent to our office? That felt good, didn’t it? Now, imagine what your husband would feel when you surprise him with something different everyday. It doesn’t have to be something big, but you can always cook his favourite meal or book a surprise weekend getaway. These types of surprises will keep the romance alive.
4. Go for date nights
When you’ve been married for 5, 10 or 20 years, it’s normal for couples to fall into routines. That’s why it’s important to schedule regular date night with your other half at least once a week. Sure, the both of you are seeing each other in a daily basis now, but the point is to get back the initial spark you had when you first dated him. And the best way to do this is to relive your memories. Go to the restaurant that he first brought you to or put on the movie that you first watched with him. Time may have past, but don’t let your relationship slipped you by too.
5. Spend time with other couples
As much as we love our husbands, sometimes it’s healthy to have other couples around for lunch or dinner dates too. Spending time with couples who have healthy relationships can be good for you. Be on the look out for couples who share your values and who have a strong relationship. It can help reinforce the importance of commitment and help remind you to keep the relationship exciting.
6. Plan a mini getaway for just the two of you
When you’re married with kids, it’s harder for your husband to whisk you away for a spontaneous weekend getaway like you used to. You have all kinds of reasons why you can’t – too many responsibilities, not enough time, no one to take care of the kids. But organise one anyway. You don’t have to go for week-long holiday in Europe, a staycation in the city will do. The most important thing is that the both of you are spending quality time together. So take this precious time to rekindle those flames.
7. Exercise together
If sex is the only physical “activity” that you or your partner engage in, then something needs to change. Being active to stay healthy and fit isn’t just a favor you can do for yourself, but it’s also a pleasure for your partner. Working out regularly, whether together or separately, can introduce another level of energy and attraction between two partners. Besides, it also builds up your stamina for bedroom activity too.
